Smartphones on Windows Phone 7.5 will have dictation support for text messages

Smartphones running Windows Phone 7.5 mobile operating system will have dictation support for text messages. Technoblog Windows Phone Secrets reports about it, with reference to Windows Phone Dev Podcast.

It’s specified that, an

additional icon in the form of a microphone will appear at the bottom of the SMS menu. The users will now be able to hit the microphone icon and dictate their SMS messages and replies, which will be automatically recognized.

Besides, smartphones based on WP 7.5 will be able to identify an audio track with the help of Bing Audio service. You will only need to take the device close to the music source. Then the song title and the artist’s name will be displayed on the smartphone screen. It must be noted, that such applications are already available on the market. In particular, similar functions provides the application Shazam, available for Android-devices and devices on the base of iOS platform.

In addition, smartphones on the base of the updated version of Microsoft mobile platform will have access to the navigation service. At the moment it is not specified, whether the service will be based on Bing maps, or it will use the navigation of Nokia, which has concluded a long-term partnership agreement with Microsoft.

Windows Phone 7.5 will be launched in autumn 2011. This update was previously known under the code name Mango.
